The James Bond toilets in Switzerland are winners of the 2018 prestigious Toilet Tourism Awards.
If you are wanting a bit of fun catch the cable car to the top of Switzerland’s beautiful Mount Schilthorn, 2970 metres above sea level and have an intimate Bond experience. These amazing loos were inspired after the location was used as Blofeld’s Lair during filming of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.”
Men’s loos
When you go into the men’s loos, Bond girl Diana Rigg appears in the mirror when men wash their hands. There’s a sign for men in the toilets saying, “Shake, don’t stir” and “Aim like James.”
Ladies’s loos
The ladies’ loos has music and a shot ringing out as an image of James Bond appears in the mirror beside a bullet hole. The audio of Bond says, “Tonight, my place – just the two of us”. If nothing else, you will leave the loos with a smile on your face and hopefully a giggle.
There were a number of other awards too, but this one really caught my eye.
Brisbane Airport in Queensland won the Best Accessible Toilets. They’re not the sexiest toilets you’ll ever see, but their functionality for the disabled surpasses excellence. The upgraded toilets have been designed to exceed accessibility legislation, with specialised equipment for an adult change table and hoist. The spacious, flexible design makes travel accessible to thousands of people with disabilities and their carers, many of whom were previously deterred from travelling. As well as many other great features they also have an indoor loo for guide dogs that travel with people with disabilities.
