Location, location …visit filming locations of ‘BEST PICTURE’ Oscar nominees 2016

Looking for different destinations to visit – why not travel to some of the exotic and wonderful locations where this years ‘Best Picture’ Oscar nominees were filmed.

The Revenant  (filmed in Alberta, Canada)

xxxxxxxxAlberta, Canada is so cold in the winter DeCaprio was working in -30C temperatures most of the time. In fact, at one point it reached -40 C.  DeCaprio said they couldn’t open their eyes and finally the camera gear locked. They took a break and suspended production for five weeks.

The Big Short (filmed in New Orleans and Manhattan)


The majority of this film was filmed in Wall Street, New York as you would imagine, but parts were also filmed in New Orleans. Both are great cities to visit.

The majority of this historic drama- thriller was filmed in Berlin.

Mad Max: Fury Road (filmed in Namibia, Africa)


This movie was filmed in Namibia and Namib Desert. It is southwest in Africa, with the desert along the Atlantic Ocean coast. The country is home to diverse wildlife with a significant cheetah population.

It is home to local Zalabia Bedouins who guide tourists and trekkers through the wadi. They have made a success of developing eco-adventure tourism, now their main source of income. The area is now one of Jordan’s important tourist destinations.
