I‘m off to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico in about a week and I’m really excited. My only other experience in Mexico was about 30 years ago when I bravely tip toed over the border from the USA into Tijuana, eating tacos and bargaining for an array of shoddy leather goods.

This is the pool area of The Resort at Pedregal where I will be staying in Cabo San Lucas.
I felt I was going from the safety and security of the US into the unknown, paranoid I was going to be pick-pocketed, robbed or accosted as I slept in a shared dorm in the back-packers shelter.
Thankfully my days of slumming it are over and we are staying at The Resort at Pedregal which will be a very different experience.

We have our own infinity pool in our suite. I can’t wait to relax in the warm water, with a little champagne of course and enjoy the view of Cabo.

Where the ocean meets the pool…
Having said all this I’m still a cautious traveller. Things happen and unfortunately there are skilful pick-pocketers even in these lovely resort destinations and accidents can happen so I always purchase travel insurance. I’m really fortunate I have never needed to make a claim but it’s just not worth the risk.
I’m doing a lot of travel this year and I’ve researched the options and have taken out a GoComprehensive policy with Worldcare. It has with unlimited cover for medical and cancellations as well as $25,000 for personal effects and much more. I try to travel lightly but regardless, I always have my laptop and camera gear so cover is really important to me.

I wouldn’t be happy replacing all this if I didn’t have insurance cover.
I found the Worldcare website excellent and amongst all sorts of useful travel information is a Travel Warning Page, linked to NZ Travel Safe. I thought Mexico may be listed but thankfully, no.
Cabo is right on the southern tip of the Baja Californian peninsula and is easily accessible from the west coast of the USA. It is rated the fifth most amazing spot in all of Mexico with an incredible coastline of divine beaches.

Cabo San Lucas is at the southern tip of the Baja Californian peninsula.
As well as dining at some of the great restaurants (and I’ve booked them already) I’m planning on spending my days enjoying the outdoors and taking in some marine wildlife so watch this space.
I’ll be blogging while I’m there to keep you abreast with what’s hip in Cabo and who I’ve seen. Apparently, it’s a great hang out for celebs, that’s if I can recognise them!
Worldcare have generously provided me with travel insurance for my trip to Cabo San Lucas.
You’re going to love it there.
