Popularity contest – New Zealand has won over the Chinese

Each year the Chinese International Travel Monitor (CITM) provides information on what mainland Chinese travellers are doing and what they want to do. It recently revealed Chinese LOVE New Zealand and ranked us the third destination (equal with France) they’d like to visit after Canada and Australia.

They love New Zealand hospitality.

The report revealed a new generation of Chinese travellers, hungry for edgy and exciting travel experiences in more far-flung places of the globe.

“Chinese millennials born after 1990 are particularly eager to cross the world, increasing their travel expenditure in the past year by a staggering 80 per cent and committing a third of their income to travel – more than any other age group.”

The new generation of Chinese travellers are keen to explore New Zealand’s natural beauty and landscape, with Franz Joseph Glacier, Fox Glacier and Milford Sound all must-see, bucket-list destinations.

With the Chinese more inquisitive than ever it’s vital the New Zealand travel industry continues to adapt to their needs to tap into their enormous spending power.
